The video below is the video ad we have selected for the first Mighty Chairs marketing campaign. As a founding partner of Mighty Chairs, who happens to be a big person, I thought it was important to introduce the company in a more humorous tone. The fact is I am big, but I'm also a happy person, and I wanted that to be how we were represented as a company. Have a look and see what you think.
I don't know about you, but I've had similar misfortunes happen to me on a couple different occasions, and there was no humor in it all, but I can't say the same for the witnesses. Not only was it embarrassing, but I could have been seriously injured.
If you're a big person, or maybe even left handed, you understand exactly what I mean when I say the world just isn't built for us.
And if you're over 350 lbs like me, you probably relate to the anxiety that comes from the uncertainties of an unfamiliar environment that may or may not meet the seating needs of a larger person.
Let me guess, when you go to a restaurant that you have never been to, you worry that all the tables will be taken. And if a booth is the only option, you suck your stomach in and hope the booth seat is far enough away from the table for you to squeeze in. Am I right?
Or perhaps, you attend one of those events with flimsy banquet chairs. You get anxiety and worry about the possibility of humiliation if the chair gives out with so many people around. Don't you?
I once went over a friend's house. She had one of those swinging indoor chairs, and invited me to take a seat. I declined at first, being comfortable with her enough to be honest as to why I didn't want to sit down, before she ensured me it was durable and safe.
Any of this sound familiar to you?
Unfortunately, we can't control the seating outside in the world, but at lease we can ensure our safety in our own homes by investing in a reliable chair that is comfortable, durable and safe for you to sit in. A chair that feels like it was built just for you.
The reality is large people having no other option but to sit in chairs that weren't made to support them causes more harm than you might think. Below are some ways big people are effected that you may not be conscious of.
- Large individuals can experience what I like to call chair anxiety from fear of chairs giving out in social settings.
- If a mishap does occur, it will inevitably result in extreme embarrassment, an horrific memory, and your friends, family, co-workers, and even yourself will never let you live down. Let's just hope it isn't caught on camera, and there is a good chance it will be if you are at a big event.
- Mishaps from unfit chairs can be catastrophic for the victim; resulting in medical problems, financial problems caused by time away from work, and potentially irreversible damage.
- If the physical damage is severe enough, it could force you to have to rely on disability, which may have a lengthy approval time, or even worse they deny you. Meanwhile, the bills keep coming.
None of the above is worth taking a chance on when you can do something about it for yourself once and for all. If you're sitting in chairs that creak, sink, or is uncomfortable due to your size then it's time for you to invest in a chair that's made for you.
